INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg ground beef
- 300 g EPIROS Feta PDO cheese
- 1 medium onion
- 500 g grated tomatoes
- 1 garlic
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 spring onions
- 8 brioche buns
- 1 tablespoon chili flakes
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
EXECUTION
Peel and slice onion finely. In a pan add some oil and sauté onions until golden and soft. Set aside and allow to cool. In a large bowl knead together ground beef, salt, pepper and onions. Devide burgers to six equal balls. Dice EPIROS Feta PDO cheese into cubes. Push carefully into minced meat balls without braking; flatten into patty shape cover and refrigerate.
In a heavy bottom pan add some olive oil and turn heat up when oil heats up add garlic, chili flakes, vinegar and tomatoes. When mixture comes to boil, turn down heat and stir in the honey. Allow to reduce mixing occasionally.
Lightly oil grill pan and set to high temperature. When pan heats a lot place burgers on grill pan and cook for 3’-4’ flipping and repeating. Remove burgers from grill pan and place in oven at 180oC for 3’-4’.
Slice buns in middle and grill in same grill pan.
Tip: Replace beef with a piece of EPIROS Talagani in order to make a veggie burger!
Plating: Serve burger in buns with tomato chutney and finely sliced spring onions.
